Sturgis Consultation Center was established in 1987.

Husband and Wife:

Dr. Sara Sue Schaeffer, LPC, LMFT, ACS

Dr. Schaeffer has nearly 30 years of experience as a counselor in private practice, clinical supervisor, school counselor, counselor educator, and hospital administrator.  She was the first chair of the Michigan Board of Counseling and is past president of the Michigan Counseling Association.

 

Dr. Donald Amidon, LPC, LMFT, ACS

Dr. Amidon has served as a counselor, marriage and family therapist, clinical supervisor, navy chaplain, and hospital service chief for over 30 years.  He is an

ordained minister and has served as board president for Hospice and Visiting

                                     Nurse programs.

Constance Martindale, MA LPC
Connie is a fully Licensed Professional Counselor and a Play Therapist Specialist. Her background includes extensive work with children as a therapist, daycare provider and director, pre-school teacher, and as a substitute teacher for Sturgis Schools.

Her counseling specialties include play therapy; family and relationship counseling; substance abuse and relapse prevention; relational issues; abuse and trauma issues; eliminating self-defeating behavior; stress management; working with adolescents and children coping with loss and grief, anxiety, and depression; teaching skills; maintaining wellness; and teaching strategies to assist in discovering barriers to happiness and improving quality of life. 

Kimberly Powers, MA, LPC, CAADC, ADS
Kimberly is a fully Licensed Professional Counselor and has been working with individuals as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor for the past five and a half years.  In addition, she is certified as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist; and also trained to supervise limited license counselors.  Her Master's degree is in Christian Counseling through Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.  She believes there is hope available to all who seek it.  Areas of counseling include:  emotional growth and healing/ Mood Disorders; better communication and conflict resolution in relationships; Post-Traumatic growth; substance abuse counseling/Addictions; spiritual counseling; wellness; stress management; healthy self-esteem; support through life transitions; and counseling through loss/grief.
